Excellent job!! I think Voki is a great tool to motivate our students to participate and to make them speak in a meaningful way while having fun as well. It can be used even from very beginning levels. It also gives us clues about our student’s personality traits and likings. I think we need to pool out ideas on the many ways it could be used in class. It must fit perfectly well in an ABCD objective, don´t you agree? For example, the students (a) will be able to introduce themselves spontaneously (b) using voki in their blogs or class blog (c) in a recording of 1 minute (d). Did you use your own voice to record this voki or you used voice software? It sounds really good. Avatars are the starting point before we go into the next level: Second Life animation, have you tried that too?
Hello Julio, thanks for your comments. I am just exploring voki for the first time but you are right, it's a great tool for our students to have fun while they learn. When you create your voki you can choose the voice you prefer from a list of options, you can even choose the accent you prefer: British, American, Australian, etc. With respect to the objectives, I agree, even basic students can use this program and what I really like is that using vokis they are not afraid of speaking or making mistakes, because they are an avatar and this can make them more confident. In the voki site there are guidelines to use voki in classes, we have to explore them and share ideas. Some time ago I tried Second Life, but it looked complicated to me and I didn't know how to use it in my classes. We are discovering so many things in this class! It's awsome, don't you think? Have a great weekend.
